The Atlanta Braves are looking to make a major trade for a two-time Cy Young winner to bolster their starting rotation.
The Braves currently stand 3rd in the National League with a 52-36 record, on a L1 streak after losing 9-10 to the New York Mets on July 5.
They need a strong addition to their pitching staff to stay competitive.
Fox Sports' Rowan Kavner suggests the dream acquisition would be Tarik Skubal, a dominant left-hander.
Skubal is currently on a $32 million deal and could be a rental for Atlanta.
Acquiring Skubal would give the Braves one of the best one-two punches in baseball alongside Chris Sale.
This would significantly improve their chances of winning a World Series title.
The Braves' starting rotation has been a major concern throughout June.
General manager Alex Anthopoulos has made it clear that Atlanta plans to be aggressive in trades.
Anthopoulos said, "I fully expect and hope that we will be engaged in trades come July."
The Braves appear likely to add a starting pitcher before the deadline—it is simply a matter of who.
Skubal would provide another dominant left-hander at the top of the rotation.
However, giving up some of the organization's top prospects for a short-term addition would still be a significant risk.
The trade deadline is now less than a month away, and the Braves are expected to add talent to improve their roster.
